West Michigan CrossFit and Weightlifting Open

Didn’t make it to Regionals this year? Don’t worry, there’s plenty of competition to go around. Obviously you’ve been training hard, so don’t let it go to waste. CrossFit 616 and West Michigan Barbell Club will test your strength, skill and conditioning in an exciting format combining the sports of weightlifting and CrossFit.

The day will begin with a unsanctioned weightlifting meet, which means you don’t have to worry about kilograms, singlets or registering with USAW to compete. The meet will be run very closely to a sanctioned USAW meet, and will be perfect for CrossFitters who haven’t previously competed in weightlifting. There won't be any weight classes for the meet, and scoring will be done using the Sinclair Coefficient, however the weight on the bar will never decrease, just like a sanctioned event.

After the weightlifting meet, there will be a short break to change into CrossFit mode and there will be two WODs, which will be announced closer to the event date. These will be fairly traditional CrossFit workouts and will give you the opportunity to show how hard you worked preparing for the Games season.

The workouts will be challenging, but this will be an excellent first competition for anyone that is interested in competing, but hasn't taken the leap.

This is an individual competition that will be split into two days. The men will compete on Saturday and the women will go on Sunday. The event is being held at the DeltaPlex Arena in Grand Rapids, MI during the Michigan Athletic Performance Expo.

Hurry, space is limited  to 40 men and 40 women and registration ends April 12.

The Expo will also feature the Amatuer American Powerlifting Federation National Championship and a North American Strongman competition. There will be a $10 entry fee for spectators (competing athletes will get in free).
