Capitol Weekly Top 100 Party

Each year, Capitol Weekly’s Top 100 list names the most powerful movers and shakers in California politics. We don’t include elected officials. Instead, we look at those who devote their professional lives to fighting for – or against – issues of state politics and policy, including lobbyists, bureaucrats, activists, trade group leaders, Capitol staffers and even journalists.

This year, Capitol Weekly will unveil the Top 100 List at an end-of-session reception on Tuesday, August 19. You’re invited to celebrate with us at this lively mixer featuring drinks and a special Tapas 100 appetizer menu by Chef Michael Thiemann of Mother and The Empress Tavern. You’ll have fun! You’ll be the first to receive a copy of Capitol Weekly’s Top 100 Book!

And you’ll be supporting a good cause: All proceeds from The Top 100 Party benefit Open California, publisher of Capitol Weekly. Open California is a nonprofit organization formed in 2012 to continue - and expand on - the important public policy work done by Capitol Weekly.

Two years later, Open California is growing. We've maintained a grueling schedule: regular updates to CapitolWeekly.net, the Roundup and Political Pulse, produced our quarterly Public Policy Conference series and the biweekly Politics on Tap TV show, and now our internship program with the University of California Sacramento Center is growing so fast that we outgrew our first office.
