Many supervisors do not understand how their decisions about employee issues can create liability, not only for the agency but also for themselves personally. This program will give supervisors basic information about employment law; plus skills and strategies for managing agency staff that can help to avoid employment litigation.
Presenter: Attorney Susan Fentin
Susan Fentin is a partner in the firm of Skoler, Abbott & Presser, PC, a boutique labor and employment law firm that represents exclusively management. She joined Skoler, Abbott in December 1999, after practicing labor and employment law with the Hartford, Connecticut, firm of Shipman & Goodwin, LLP. She received her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, in 1996, from Western New England College School of Law, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Western New England College Law Review. After graduation, she served as law clerk to the Honorable John M. Greaney, Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Before attending law school, Ms. Fentin had a long career in advertising and marketing and was president and creative director of Fentin Advertising in Springfield. She is an alumna of Wellesley College and is admitted to practice in both federal and state courts in Massachusetts and Connecticut as well as federal court in Vermont. Her practice is concentrated in employment-related litigation, labor law, and employment counseling.
