Sessions: One
Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Date: Wednesday, October 16, 2019
Level: Advanced Beginner/Intermediate. Students must be able to knit, purl, work in the round, cast on and bind off. If you have never worked in two colors, the instructor will guide you through the basic steps of working with two colors of yarn.
Cost: $50
Max Number of Students: Six
Description: Fair Isle colorwork involves working two colors in one row of knitting. (Just two, you can do it!). It looks great - and isn't difficult, once you know the tricks! Changing colors, eliminating annoying gaps, maintaining even tension and other colorwork tips will be covered. Students will practice their Fair Isle skills by knitting a hat in the round.
Materials: Please bring two colors of worsted weight wool (150-200 yards each) in contrasting colors, and a third (50-100 yards) color. Also, bring size 8 and 9 double-pointed needles (or 2 circular needles of each size), a stitch marker and scissors.
Homework: Using the cable cast on method, cast on 54 stitches in the darker color using the smaller needles. Work in k1, p1 ribbing for two inches, then knit three rows even. Homework must be completed prior to the workshop!
