Description: Students will learn the basics of lace knitting by making a cute cowl. The skill that will be taught include: following a lace chart, working increases and decreases (and how these play together to create shape), how to use markers and a lifeline, how to read the knitting and fix mistakes, how to bind off, and how to block the finished piece.
Matierials: A skein (at least 300 yards) of light-colored fingering or sport weight wool and a size 4 or 5 needle. Alternatively, a skein of worsted weight wool (at least 200 yards) and a size 7 or 8 needle.
Homework: None for first session.
