An Accountable Care Community Summit with Mark Fenton - June 26, 2013

The Accountable Care Community Initiative of Austen BioInnovation Institute is pleased to host Mark Fenton in support of the Community Transformation Grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  The Summit is a component of our work and will help us move from capacity building to implementation in the third year of the five year grant.

Mark Fenton is one of the foremost experts on designing healthy, walkable communities.  Mark Fenton is a nationally recognized public health, planning, and transportation consultant, adjunct associate professor at Tufts University, advocate for active transportation, and former host of "America’s Walking" on PBS television. He has consulted with the University of North Carolina’s National Center for Safe Routes to School and has led training and planning processes for pedestrian-, bicycle-, and transit-friendly designs in communities across the United States. He studied engineering and biomechanics at the Massachusetts Institute Technology and US Olympic Training Center, and has published articles related to exercise science, physical activity promotion, and community interventions as well as numerous books, including the "Complete Guide to Walking for Health, Weight Loss, and Fitness" (Lyons Press, 2008).

The Accountable Care Community Summit, tailored to the Summit County area, will further our plans to build a healthier community by examining the determinants of health and equity.
