Join us for a sensory friendly family swim generously sponsored by the Greater Annapolis Y! Space is limited to maintain the sensory friendly atmosphere and both pool areas are covered. Two sessions available: participants 12 and under 6:00PM-7:15PM (THIS SESSION IS FULL) and participants 13 and up 7:30PM-8:45PM.
Important Information Before You Register:
1. A parent/guardian must accompany EACH participant.
2. There is a swim test policy which operates off a "red", "yellow", "green" band system. Anyone under the age of 16 is required to test (or opt-out and receive a "red" band). Parents/guardians will not need to take a swim test.
GREEN: One length of the pool and float for 15-30 seconds and tread water for 1 minute. This band will allow the child to go anywhere in the pool.
YELLOW: Be able to swim half the pool and float on back unassisted for 15-30 seconds. (Can swim freely in 5ft of water or less)
RED: non-swimmers (all non-swimmers must be accompanied in water by a parent/guardian who remains within one arms reach)
All swimmers need to have a parent/guardian at minimum, on the pool deck. If they are Red or Yellow band, they will need to be in the water.
3. The Y has puddle jumpers and lifejackets for anyone who has a red band and unable to touch. Additionally, the indoor pool is usually prefered for non-swimmers.
4. It is not necessary for the participant to be toilet trained, please just use a swim diaper with bathing suit over the diaper.
5. There are male and female lockers rooms, as well as two family restrooms in the pool area.
6. A "Guest Registration Form" must be completed for each family - this form will be emailed to you one week prior to the event. You must bring completed form to the event.
