3 hours of CE for Tax Professionals for the IRS Updates

Technology Class - MN-NATP (Complimentary):

6:00 – 7:40         Security Plan Mission Impossible  Speaker: Portia Vogt

7:40 - 9:00          Optional: Networking with other tax professionals

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to lock down your checklist and inventory for a security plan in just 2 hours!

Are you tired of hearing about having a formal security plan, but just want to get something done?  How about a starter solution which won’t leave your head spinning?  In this hands-on, 2 hour session the focus will be IRS Pub.4557 security checklists and getting your device and software inventories drafted.  We will answer your burning ‘what if’ questions with FAQ 7216, and a few supplements that reference basic requirements of GBLA, Cir. 230, CFR 26 7216, etc.

The post mission, should you choose to accept that too, will simply be to complete the final steps of review with your staff, and to store the plan and inventories in a secure location.

OBJECTIVES HOUR 1:  Review of IRS Pub. 4557 checklists to determine the most critical areas to “lock down” in your practice.

OBJECTIVE HOUR 2:  Understand the IRS & FTC definitions of the terms ‘Personal Identifying Information’ (PII), ‘Taxpayer Information’ and ‘Sensitive Information’ and create inventories describing where that client data is stored and used.

This 2 hour session will be followed by professional networking between tax pros covering additional solutions firms are implementing to meet the 4557 checklist and other security requirements.
