The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative &  Translational Science Institute Summit on Drug Discovery, Chemical Biology, and Drug Delivery 

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative and the Translational Science Institute are hosting their first joint summit focusing on drug discovery, chemical biology, and drug delivery on Friday, June 10, at the Benton Convention Center.

The joint IEI/TSI summit is a daylong event intended to fuel innovation and foster collaboration. Through the engagement of our research community, we hope to uncover nascent drug discovery capabilities and/or targets that could contribute to building a strong and unique pipeline at WFBH. This symposium is not merely focused on research but also on research enablement. Addressing questions like: could your current research interest lead to the development of therapeutics? Are there opportunities to drug discovery related funding opportunities that might help your research? How can the various focus areas of our medical center be strengthened through drug discovery chemical biology and drug delivery research?

Internationally recognized experts, including Drs. Peter Crooks (University of Kentucky), Christopher Austin (NIH Center for Translational Therapeutics), and Sitta Sittampalam (Kansas University) will demonstrate to our community the challenges and opportunities inherent in this field. One of the most significant opportunities is that the pharmaceutical industry is looking ever more to academic research centers for solutions to its pipeline challenges. Consistent with other efforts this summit will demonstrate to our community that WFBH can be a unique and differentiated participant in creating the future of drug discovery, chemical biology and drug delivery.
