Top 10 Ways to Improve Your Glaucoma Referrals
Michael Cymbor, O.D., State College, PA
Description: In late fall of 2016, Mike Cymbor, OD, FAAO, a member of the Optometric Glaucoma Society, started the Glaucoma Institute of State College with a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. This talk will discuss the Top 10 ways to improve glaucoma referrals. The speaker will share his experience of being on both sides of glaucoma referrals to help improve overall quality and consistency of glaucoma care. This course will emphasize MIGS treatment options.

Lab Work-Eye Can Test That

Description: This course presents lab work available to an eye care provider across 5 different categories basic labs, systemic conditions ocular effects, inflammatory conditions, infectious etiology, and vascular conditions. Lab work and interpretation will be reviewed. Attendees will be able to provide improved differential diagnoses considering lab results in the context of clinical presentation.

Keep Imaging Simple: An Expanded Introduction to Neuroimaging
Meghan Elkins, O.D., Huntington, WV
Description: This course provides the attendee with a basic approach to neuroimaging review. It will cover the basic ways carotid ultrasounds, x-rays, CT scans, and MRIs work. Attendees will be able to recognize anatomic structures of the carotid pathway and on brain axial, coronal, and sagittal scans for a normal patient. Also, a sampling of pathologic and incidental findings will be discussed so attendees will become familiar with how these findings appear on the various imaging strategies.

Assessing Central Vision Loss Research Update
Arun Krishnan, B.S. Optom., Ph.D., Philadelphia, PA
This course will summarize the recent research findings in low vision rehabilitation. Emphasis will be on central vision loss, secondary to conditions like age-related macular degeneration, Stargardt disease. Attendees will learn about the functional visual assessment using micro-perimeters and about fixational eye movements.
