Presentation Summary.

The #MeToo movement has elevated global consciousness about women's rights and the obstacles they encounter through sexual harassment and assault in their lives, both personal and professional.  Join our panelists as they discuss the #MeToo movement and recent legal trends in regard to harassment in the workplace.

Topics of discussion will include:

• What is harassment?
• High profile harassment allegations and actions employers (and other related companies) have taken.
• Reactions to harassment allegations.
• State and Local laws that affect the use of NDAs in sexual harassment cases.
• Legal definition and remedies, such as:  hostile work environment v. quid pro quo, the severe or pervasive standard, and individual liability.
• How to prevent harassment in the workplace, what employers should do if an employee files a complaint, and tips on conducting an investigation.
• Insurance coverage of harassment claims
• What can employers do to prevent harassment allegations.

About our Speakers.

Monica Wahba is legal counsel to SuitSupply (U.S.A.) Inc. and adjunct professor at Rutgers University. Prior to joining SuitSupply, Monica was an Associate at Drinker Biddle & Reath in their commercial litigation practice group. Monica earned her B.A. from Rutgers University in 2006 and J.D. from George Washington School of Law in 2009.  Monica is also a past President of the Princeton Bar Association.

Vik Jaitly is an associate at Drinker Biddle & Reath in the firm’s Philadelphia, PA office.  Vik represents employers in disputes in federal and state courts and administrative tribunals with respect to a variety of employment and labor related issues, including: compliance with federal and state employment statutes; non-compete, non-solicitation and non-disclosure agreements; discrimination and harassment matters; and wage and hour compliance issues.  Vik also assists clients with employment hiring, compensation and termination practices, proposed employee discipline and dismissal, internal employee complaints and investigations, executive employment, non-competition and severance agreements, reductions in force, union collective bargaining, affirmative action, drug testing, workplace violence, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and many other issues.

Continuing Legal Education Credit

Participants will receive a certificate valid for 1 CLE credit certified in Pennsylvania valid for reciprocal credit in New Jersey and New York.  A gourmet lunch will be served.
