Gene Pawlikowski, a 38 year veteran of supplying rainscreen facade cladding systems of all types, will present trending rainscreen facade materials and systems currently being used on construction of all types in VT and New England: Commercial, multi-family, mixed-use, academic, and residential.Buildings have become lighter as designers attempt to reduce thermal bridging, delete red steel, provide unbroken insulation plane, and create compelling façade color & texture combinations. Regional projects and case histories will showcase long-standing and newer rainscreen façade materials:
• 4” fired-clay brick veneer, the original back-ventilated, self-draining rainscreen cladding
• Thin brick and thin stone systems
• Terracotta (extruded ceramic panels)
• Single-Skin Metal panels and planks
• Extruded Aluminum panels with unlimited customization
• High-Density Fiber Cement Panels
• High Pressure Laminate panels and planks (HPL, phenolic)
• Porcelain panels
• Natural stone rainscreen panels
Learning Objectives:
1. Integrate knowledge of contemporary rainscreen cladding materials with attachment systems to properly select the appropriate substructure for practical and cost-effective installation.
2. Address environmental impact by discussing sustainable façade cladding production methods.
3. Identify pros and cons of these various materials, problem avoidance in design, limitations, price comparisons and specifications.
Networking time with an open bar and light fare will preceed the presentation. We look forward to seeing you there!
