As part of the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Fix-A-Leak Week campaign, March 16-22, OMWD will co-host two one-hour clinics with San Dieguito Water District in order to help you save water and money, indoors and out. Clinics will be held at the Encinitas Community Center on Monday, March 16, and will include hands-on demonstrations of simple home leak repairs.
The intent of the clinics is to provide residents with tips and tools to assist them in troubleshooting leaks on their property.
Indoor Clinic
12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
San Dieguito Water District representatives will provide tips for detecting leaks in your home and solving home plumbing issues without calling the plumber. Many home plumbing issues can be fixed by the resident in a couple hours or less.
Outdoor Clinic
2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Workshop attendees will also learn how to troubleshoot an irrigation system with Steve Sherman of California Landscape Technologies, a Cardiff-based firm providing landscape architectural design and water auditing services. Sherman will explain the importance of pressure in an irrigation system and on home devices, how to use your water meter to detect leaks, the uses of a pressure gauge, as well as answer any landscape questions from the audience.
