Native Plant Workshop

You are invited to a free workshop designed to inspire and equip residents to incorporate native plants into
their own gardens. Fall is an ideal time of the year to make changes to your landscape and add new plants.

Scheduled for Thursday, October 19 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Elfin Forest Interpretive Center
Honoring Susan J. Varty, the workshop will be taught by Greg Rubin, landscape contractor and co-author of
two books on native plants.

Topics covered will include:

  • How native landscaping differs from conventional ornamental horticulture
  • Native soil ecology
  • Design concepts and styles
  • Plant selection
  • Irrigation design
  • Pest and weed control
  • And more!

There will also be a special emphasis on the widespread damage being wrought by Argentine ants and some ways to deal with them.

Registration for this free event is required.
