Following is a brief summary of the ASP Therapist / Practitioner Network Meeting – held on 5/10/13, Facilitated by Dr. Albert Speranza
We began with a recording of a short dialogue by Mooji (spiritual teacher) describing and defining our “I AM Presence” and how to access it during meditation.
A short discussion of the dialogue followed.
We had a round of introductions around the group circle. New attendees had an opportunity to describe their work and interest in our organization.
There was continued interest in discussing the connections between spirituality and creative arts – the nature of being in the present moment and feeling connected with others.
There was a query about a personal experience of dysphoria and the desire to understand the role of spirituality regarding this experience for which the group responded supportively.
A participant explained some of the concepts of Metapsychiatry as the expression of spiritual values and gave some examples.
Others shared the meaning of spirituality for them by sharing what they described as personal spiritual experiences.
An attendee also mentioned the role of Chinese medical treatments in supporting mental health.
There was continued discussion regarding the integration of spirituality into everyday experience, both personally and professionally.
The sharing was supportive, challenging, contemplative, genuine and heartfelt. It was a lively discussion.
At the end of the meeting, an attendee expressed interest in having a group experience of chanting.
Meeting adjourned.
Thank you for your attendance and avid participation – until next time.
Please remember, this is an ASP Member driven group so your interest and attendance is essential to this new direction.
We look forward to seeing all of you who have attended in the past as well as those of you who are interested in this important and continually emerging field.
