Andrew Schulman, 8-String Guitar

is a guitar soloist and the founder and music director of the Abaca String Band. As a soloist he has appeared throughout the United States and Europe in venues ranging from Carnegie Recital Hall and The Improv in New York City to the Royal Albert Hall and Chelsea Arts Club in London. He has made numerous radio and TV appearances. Mr. Schulman has performed at The White House, with the Abaca String Band in 1997, and as a soloist in 1999, and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art among many other well-known institutions. The Abaca String Band has appeared on the Carnegie Hall Neighborhood Concert Series and in concerts throughout the U.S.
Andrew Schulman is the resident visiting artist three days a week in the Surgical ICU at Beth Israel Medical Center.
A WNBC News 4 New York segment featuring his work at Beth Israel Medical Center has won two prestigious journalism and broadcasting awards: the New York chapter’s 2012 Emmy in the Human Interest category, and first place in the 48 Hour feature category of the Best of Photo Journalism 2011 competition, organized by the National Press Photographers Association. BBC-4 Radio recently did an extended interview with
Mr. Schulman for their highly acclaimed Soul Music

He has recorded two solo CDs for the Centaur label, "The Baroque Style", and "Lullabies, Reveilles, (and Siesta!)", and his original music and arrangements are published by Berben Edizioni Musicali of Italy.
Mr. Schulman appears every Friday night at Picnic, a Bistro d' Alsace. Picnic is located on the Upper West Side, Broadway and 102nd Street. This will be Andrew Schulman's third performance at Tony Powe's speakeasy, 2nd Floor on Clinton.
