Drop Spindles Drop into the Yarn Garage in September 

Introduction to Spindle Spinning:

Learn the ancient craft of Spindle Spinning. This course will introduce you to the portable and fun craft of using spindles to make yarn. Turn wool into ‘Gold’ using only a simple tool as part of the ultimate DIY experience. We will cover the basics of spinning on a spindle-drafting, winding on, winding off, plying and making a skein. All levels of skill are welcome, if you have never picked up a spindle before you will get the fundamentals and if you need to polish your skills we will work with your skill level.  You are welcome to bring your own spindle, but spindles and wool are available at the shop .

Please have a spindle and 4 ounces of wool before class.  

About your Instructor:

"I grew up surrounded by hand knitted clothing and developed a fascination for fiber by watching my mother knit. From the time I first was taught to knit at seven I have been obsessed with creating textiles. At 8 a gift of a spindle and some wool sparked a love affair with creating yarn which has only increased as I learned more about historical and traditional textiles. Spinning is my primary craft, and I firmly believe that the portability and cost effectiveness of spindle spinning means that this ancient craft is available to everyone."
