FF2014 - Amy Detjen - Cable Tips for Every Knitter 

Cable maneuvers are not difficult, but sometimes you need to keep your wits about you. Even experienced cable knitters can use these tips for keeping track of cables, determining what row is next, turning a cable without a cable needle, and repairing mis-twisted cables.

Prerequisite knowledge:

  • cast on (any)
  • knit and purl, and be able to tell which is which when looking at your work
  • bind off

Materials:

  • one ball of light colored yarn in a DK or Worsted, Merino Sei or Otto or similar recommended.
  • needles (straight or circular) in US 6, 7, or 8 appropriate for chosen yarn, recommend a pointed tip such as Addi Rockets
  • cable needle
