POETRY IN FORM: Freedom in Chains

While ryhme and meter were once standard features of poetry, 20th century poets turned away from them to embrace free verse unfettered by those conventions.  Against this trend, contemporary poets have returned to the challenges and rewards of writing in form, sometimes bending and breaking old forms, and sometimes creating wholly new ones.

Join us for a unique opportuity to spend the day with Rebecca Foust, award-winning writer and Marin County Poet Laureate in 2017-19 in two exciting sessions.

Guest Presenter:  Rebecca Foust

Rebecca Foust is the author of six books including Paradise Drive and The Unexploded Ordnance Bin, and ONLY, a new book forthcoming from Four Way Books in 2022.  Recognitions include the Pablo Neruda, C.P. Cavafy and James Hearst poetry prizes, Marin Poet Laureateship, and fellowships from Hedgebrook, MacDowell, and Sewanee.  Foust works as Poetry Editor for Women's Voices for Change.  You can read her weekly poetry column here, https://womensvoicesforchange.org/category/arts-culture/poetry
