This training will illuminate the concepts of art expression and illustrate how advocates can create activities that support children and adults. Best practice in the use of art will be discussed including what art activities and supplies help and which ones can cause harm. You will leave with creative and trauma-informed ideas to use in shelter programming providing support to children and adults. 

Trainer: Tom Hanicak,  Art Therapist & Educational Consultant with ODVN's Sonia Ferencik, LISW-S, Child Trauma,Training & Technical Assistance Specialist

Cost: $20 for ODVN members and $30 for non- members

Continuing Education Credits: 5 CEUS  Counselor and social worker provider numbers are #RSX040202 and #RCX120302. Please note that CEU credit hours will only be given for the hours you actually attend training. To get a complete certificate of attendance for all the offered hours, you must attend the entire training. There are no exceptions. 

Refund Policy: A full refund will be given until June 18, 2019.  If you cancel your registration after the training or fail to attend, you or your agency will be responsible for the full registration fee. Participant substitutions are always welcome.

Dress: Please dress casually and comfortaby. Temperatures in training environments are unpredictable so please dress in layers. 

Food and Materials: Due to grant restrictions, ODVN cannot provide food or snacks. Participants are encouraged to bring what they need to take care of themselves. There will be a 45 minute lunch break. Participants will be provided with all hand-outs and training materials but may find it useful to bring a laptop, tablet, pen or paper.
