Pets provide important emotional support for adult and child survivors of domestic violence. Yet, many shelters are not knowledgeable or equipped to house pets. This training will teach participants how to create and sustain a pet housing program that allows families and pets to escape abuse together. Topics include information about grants that help fund start-up costs and training programs for domestic violence shelters. ODVN Program Directors will discuss a variety of pet housing options including fostering options for pets, working with local veterinarians and Humane Society shelters.
