Data privacy laws are evolving fast. So are cyber-threats. Protecting consumers’ and employees’ personal information against unauthorized collection, access, and use is getting harder. Last year, ransomware attacks increased. After transitioning to teleworking workforces, companies began using and transmitting personal information in ways that created new risks. And California voters passed the new California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). 2021 promises to be one of the most challenging years for corporate privacy information management systems.

Ed Hopkins will brief attendees on “The Top Five Things You Need to Know about Data Privacy in 2021.” The five topics his presentation will cover are:

1)      Complying with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

2)      The Ransomware Problem

3)      New Biometrics Challenges

4)      Building an Effective Corporate Privacy Information Management System (PIMS)

5)      Data Privacy Management Competence Requirements for Lawyers under the Rules of Professional Conduct
