Respected legal writing experts frequently note that it is the rewriting, not the writing, that carries the day. Session 3 of this three-part series will examine the editing process as the oft-overlooked, but most important, element of persuasive legal writing. This 1.5-hour session seeks to provide an interactive approach to the process of editing, including the joys to be found in the elimination of that which is unnecessary and the importance of contempt for one’s own written product, to make it as effective as possible. The session also will suggest tools for meeting page limitations, the ethical challenges attendant to that process, and the importance of learning through the editing process.
