Our Poland Carbon Capture Forum, in Warsaw Gas Museum on Nov 18th will look at what technology and experience developed so far could help make carbon capture and storage viable for Poland over the longer term.
It would be ideal if the costs of carbon capture could be covered by enhanced gas recovery or enhanced oil recovery - but is this feasible?
The regulatory environment for carbon capture in Poland is also far from clear, with some interpretations of the law saying that CO2 sequestration is illegal.
At our Poland Carbon Capture Forum on November 18th we'll explore these issues.

Overview of Polish carbon capture research
- The Institute of Chemical Processing of COal has a pilot amine based CO2 capture plant, with research together with Tauron Polska Energia and Tauron Wytwarzanie. This is the first installation of its kind of Poland. Last year it worked on flue gases from aziska Power Plant, and this year it works on the Aworzno Power plant. Watch the video - View the slides

About our speakers
Anna Dubowik manages policy and regulatory work stream of the European CCS Demonstration Project Network – an FP7 funded project coordinated by the Global CCS Institute, EMEA office. Anna worked on energy efficiency directive and external dimension of the EU energy policy in the Polish Permanent Representation to the EU during Hungarian and Polish presidency of the Council. Before joining the Institute in September 2013, she worked on shale gas report and back loading proposal for the Polish delegation to the EPP group in the European Parliament. Her consulting and policy advisory services delivered to various Brussels-based organisations include CCS, offshore oil and gas exploration safety directive, and 2030 climate and energy framework. She holds MA in European Interdisciplinary Studies from the College of Europe.
Giles Dickson
Giles Dickson is Vice President for Environmental Policies & Global Advocacy in Alstom. He heads Alstom's global team that promotes the Company's thinking on energy, environment, climate and transport policies and engages governments and others on how to support the transition to the low-carbon economy. Key policy issues on which the Company campaigns are the need for clear long-term regulatory frameworks that provide the right incentives and certainty for investment in low-carbon infrastructure: including clear trajectories for emissions reduction, the effective pricing of carbon and pre-market support for low-carbon technologies. .
Alstom provides technology and equipment for power generation and transmission and sustainable transport.
He joined Alstom in 2008 as Director Government Relations Europe for Alstom Power, where he was involved in advocacy on CCS, smart grids and energy efficiency. He was previously a UK Government official for 16 years, working mainly on EU affairs, finally serving as Environment Counsellor at the UK Permanent Representation to the EU.
He is a Vice-Chairman of the BUSINESSEUROPE Industrial Affairs Committee. He is also a member of the Board of the International Emissions Trading Association and a member of the Advisory Board of the Global Green Growth Forum.
