“My voice, which wasn’t heard as a child or throughout my life after each abuse, was finally heard.”
“Having the community members there offered me something my own family and friends couldn’t do for me.
“I thought they (survivors and community members) would lash out and verbally beat us up. What I received was respect, dignity and compassion. I didn’t know what to do with that.”
“They asked hard questions which made me think hard and answer honestly about my offenses.”
Have you been impacted by sexual harm?
Do you know someone who has been sexually harmed?
Have you sexually harmed someone?
We’ll accomplish this by using peacemaking circle process which is steeped in Native American and indigenous people practices throughout Canada and the United States.
The healing circle is guided by a circle keeper who creates a safe, non-hierarchical place where everyone has the opportunity to speak without interruption with the use of a talking piece. The circle upholds values such as, respect, compassion, honesty and confidentiality.
Because of the circle process many people find that the deep listening and ability to speak without interruption brings healing, understanding and transformation.
