Intermediate Motivational Interviewing

This intermediate course builds upon the information learned in the Basic mtotivational interviewing training. Attendees will review the OARS engagement skills that build a therapeutic relationship. The course then focuses on learning about the importance of change talk and practicing skills to elicit it in clients. A special focus will be on understanding what is commonly considered "resistance" and how to utilize Motivational Interviewing to respond to resistance.

Having attended the Basic Motivational Interviewing course is not a requirement, however, to gain the most benefit from the event an understanding of Basic Motivation Interviewing is reccommended.

Refunds will be made ONLY for cancellations received three business days prior to the event. If received less than three days prior to the event, a credit can be issued for use at another program within the next 6 months. If notice of cancellation is not received before the date of the program, no refund will be issued.  PLEASE NOTE: No shows will be charged the full registration fee.

Class sizes are limited, so register early. Classes with low registrations may be canceled. If the class is canceled or moved, participants will be contacted via email at least 24 hours in advance.

Classes start and end on time. To ensure a quality experience for all, please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the class.  CEU credits will be adjusted 0.25 credit hours for every 15 minutes not in attendance; adjusted certificates will be emailed to participants within 3 business days after the training. Hard copies of certificates will be mailed upon request.

Please note: Certificates will be provided at the completion of the event so long as attendance has been verified and evaluation returned. A reminder that, in keeping with licensure board requirements, certificates will be adjusted 0.25 hours for every 15 minutes not in attendance, and attendance will be monitored.
