9:30am – 10:30 am  BREAK-OUT SESSIONS

Option 1: Promise for the Future:  The Anatomy of a Planned Giving Campaign
(Applied for 1.0 CFP® credit)

Mike Lamb
Vice President, Wichita State University Foundation

This program will provide functional insight into how a multifaceted effort engaged Foundation staff, the university community and donors in creating new legacy gift commitments.  With minimal additional staff or financial resources, this campaign was able to increase documented planned gift commitments over a two-year period by 25 percent and successfully reach the campaign goal of 100 new gifts.

Option 2:  Attracting Gifts Through Beneficiary Designations
Bill Laskin

Vice President, Product Management, PG Calc

Similar to bequests, but even simpler to set up, beneficiary designations on retirement plans, life insurance policies, donor-advised funds, and various other assets can be a substantial source of gifts to your organization. In addition to offering your supporters simplicity, these gifts avoid the probate process and offer tax benefits. This presentation will cover the many types of possible beneficiary designation arrangements, suggest ways to promote them, and review various stewardship and gift administration considerations.

10:45 - 11:45 am  BREAK-OUT SESSIONS

Option 1:  What High Net Worth Individuals Expect You to Know (Applied for 1.0 CFP® credit)
Chris Kelly
Vice President/Planned Giving Product Specialist, PNC Institutional Asset Management

This session is designed to review and discuss the data and findings of several studies and apply this to our everyday interaction with our donor/client base.  In addition, we will discuss how this information applies and enhances the various components of the traditional Planned Giving Infrastructure along with the customized benefits of the “Blended Gift Strategy."

Option 2: The Changing Faces of Planned Giving: How Today's Demographic Trends Require a New Approach
Kathy Klein, CFP ®

Senior Consultant/Vice President, Park Place Capital Management, Inc.

This session will highlight four prevalent demographic shifts: The graying of America, Purse Power, The Small Business Boom, and Diversity, emphasizing how slight modifications to your planned giving programs can help your organization reap big rewards.
