ANTHROPOSOPHY STUDY: "The Anthroposophy study will be Core Principle # 6, Professional growth. The reading will be Balance in Teaching."
HARD CRAFTS: We will construct a simple one-stringed instrument called a strum stick. This experience will teach the participants the basic techniques needed to create a more complicated multi-stringed instrument.
Participants will also explore stone carving, typically grade 12 sculpting curriculum. Convex and concave polarities will be explored using alabaster and soapstone.
SOFT CRAFTS: In the ninth grade tailoring block, we build on skills students developed in eighth grade sewing. We are still exploring what it means to "clothe one's self", but now we can be more precise. Each student will make a shirt to fit his or her own body. This requires new skills- designing, measuring and fitting the garment. More complex patterns and constructions such as collars, facings and button holes will be covered.
