Julie Squires, Compassion Fatigue Specialist

This session will address compassion, fatigue and burnout. Participants will learn 5 strategies to manage or cope with the stress of caregiving, helping them sustain their own well-being while becoming better caregivers.

Every registrant has a choice of which workshop they would like to attend. You'll want to review the choices before completing your registration, as you will make your choices during the registration process.

1.) Understanding and Responding to Dementia Related Behaviors
      Presenter: Elizabeth Smith-Boivin, Executive Director of the Alzheimer's Association of NENY
In this workshop, you will learn to identify common behaviors and their triggers and learn strategies to help intervene with some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer's disease. 

2.) Creating a Dementia Friendly Environment
      Presenter: Erica Salamida, Associate Director of Programs & Services, Alzheimer's Association of  NENY 
In this workshop, you will learn to identify potential hazards and safety concerns in the home or long term care setting while optimizing opportunities for independence.
