2018 Fall Clergy Retreat
The demands made of today's clergy only seem to grow over time. Many of us are working as hard as we can, and still not meeting all that is expected of us. This retreat is an invitation to "come apart and rest awhile," and to consider the practice of 'resting in God' in our daily lives. The main program time will be on Tuesday morning, where the leader will offer two reflections, each followed by suggested prayer exercises and a time of silent reflection. We will consider together the spiritual practice of 'keeping Sabbath' as a weekly discipline, but also the interior posture of 'resting in God' that makes ministry contemplative rather than manipulative.
The 2018 Fall Clergy Retreat will be held at St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center on October 14th - 17th. Bishop Rob has invited Br. David Vryhof, SSJE to lead the retreat. Br. Vryhof is a monk and priest of the Society of St. John the Evangelist, the oldest religious order for men in the Anglican Communion. He currently serves the community as the Assistant Superior, and oversees the area of Communications for SSJE, which includes their websites, www.ssje.org and www.catchthelife.org, as well as other materials and programs they produce. He is an experienced retreat leader, teacher and spiritual director. He resides at the SSJE monastery in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
For those choosing to spend three nights at St. Methodios, check in will be at 4pm on Sunday, the 14th. For all others, check in will be between 4 and 5 pm on Monday.
