Winning industry awards can boost your brand, increase visibility and demonstrate excellence. It also is a great way to recognize the hard work of the entire team, including your staff and your client. Learn how to identify which awards to pursue, the anatomy of a winning award submittal, tips and missteps to avoid, and how to get the most of your submittal, whether you win or not.

About the Presenters:

Dahvia Lynch, AICP CEP, LEED AP
Development Services Director, City of San Marcos

Dahvia Lynch has been a leader in the public sector working to create great places for nearly 20 years.  Her focus has been on collaborative planning of new communities and public facilities, as well as habitat conservation programs and transit planning.  She earned a Masters of Urban Planning and a Bachelor’s of Planning, Public Policy and Administration and is a Certified Environmental Planner and LEED Accredited Professional. Early in her career, Dahvia worked for an affordable housing non-profit organization in Detroit. Recent roles include Chief of Resource Management for the County of San Diego (Parks and Recreation) and Chief Planning Officer for North County Transit District. She has served as a juror on awards panels for professional organizations including the American Planning Association (APA) and Urban Land Institute (ULI), as well as for numerous government agencies.

Terry Casey, FSMPS, CPSM
Principal, On Target Marketing & Communications

With more than 30 years in AEC marketing, Theresa M. Casey, FSMPS, CPSM, (Terry), is one of the twelve SMPS National Subject Matter Experts who helped form the Markendium, the AEC Marketing Body of Knowledge. Terry has become particularly adept at telling her clients’ compelling stories regarding their capabilities, experience and key knowledge experts, earning a collection of national, regional and local AEC industry and communications awards, including the EJ Hooper Medal for best presentation paper at the Institute of Public Works Australia Conference in Melbourne, Australia. Terry also has administered several AEC awards programs and served as a judge for ENR New England’s first Top 20 under 40 competition, as well as 8 years for the SMPS National Marketing Communications Awards.
