Course Description:
This course will discuss ideas for incorporating STEM learning into the early education curriculum through everyday activities. Through large and small group discussions, activities and presentations, this course will discuss how children learn STEM concepts, the Massachusetts Guidelines for Preschool Learning in Science and Math, and how to plan activities to promote and support these standards. Participants will use hands-on activities and practice extending STEM concepts into other learning domains.
Course Objectives:
1. Describe how children learn STEM concepts;
2. Describe the components of the STEM standards;
3. List strategies for incorporating STEM learning into everyday activities;
4. Develop strategies to enhance STEM activities by extending the learning into other domains.
