AIHEC 2016 Summer Board of Directors Meeting 

The AIHEC 2016 Summer Board of Directors Meeting is scheduled for July 12-14, 2016 in Dever, CO.  Our host hotel is The Curtis--a Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, 1405 Curtis Street, Denver, CO 80202.

We are hosting a meeting on the National Student Clearinghouse on July 12 at 9:30 a.m.  If your college is not yet a part of the NSCH or you would like to learn more about it, please stop by this meeting.  Otherwise, our summer meeting will begin on the afternoon of July 12 (1:00 p.m.) with a special 2-part session on Resiliency. On July 13, we will focus on The AIHEC Plan: Vision for Our Movement.  On July 14, we will have a half-day board meeting in the morning and a joint meeting with the American Indian College Fund in the afternoon.  Our meeting will conclude on the evening of July 14 with a reception at the College Fund's newly renovated headquarters.  To view the full schedule of events and read more about each board session, click here.

To reserve your hotel room:  The AIHEC Room Block is filled.  However, you may still call The Curtis at 303-571-0300 and request a room.  If rooms are available, the rate will be $299 or more per night.  The AIHEC room block closed on June 15, 2016.  For more information, please visit The Curtis website.     

Airport & Transportation Options:  The Denver International Airport (DEN) is approximately 30-40 minutes from downtown Denver, CO.

From the airport to The Curtis: You have three options:  (a) A Line Train:  The Denver airport now has direct rail line service to downtown via the A Line Train!  To get to the train's airport station from baggage claim, follow signs to the "Transit Center," which will lead you to the south end of the main terminal, under the large American Flag (on Level 5 - same as baggage claim).  Exit the terminal through the sliding glass doors and take the escalator in the center of the plaza DOWN to Level 1.  Purchase a ticket from the ticket vending machine located on the train platform using cash or credit card.  You will board the train to Union Station-Downtown Denver (at the airport, you can only go one way). The train runs every 15 minutes and costs $9. The trip to downtown is about 37 minutes and makes eight stops, including the final one at Union Station, where you will exit.  From Union Station, the hotel is a 10-minute walk or short cab ride.  (b)  Town Car: To reserve a town car -- for the same flat rate as a taxi -- you must call The Curtis in advance, 303-571-0300 and the hotel agent will reserve a town car for you and provide details.  The cost is $60 one-way if you use the hotel service.  Be sure to call in advance and make a reservation!  (c) Taxi:  From baggage claim, follow signs to the taxi stands.  The trip to downtown is $60 flat rate.  Super Shuttle is not recommended by the hotel, as it takes longer than the A Line Train.
