What is the OVW STEP Prevention Institute?
An opportunity to understand the latest science on adolescent brain development, the public health model of prevention of dating abuse, stalking and sexual assault and how healthy adolescent relationships can reduce adolescent risk behaviors – dating abuse, sexual assault, substance abuse, and other forms of violence. You will learn the core strategies of a comprehensive prevention program for middle and high schools, with examples of innovative youth-led campaigns to create social change. You will experience and share a blizzard of incoming ideas!
Who Should Attend?
STEP Team coordinators, Educators, School administrators, prevention coordinators, health teachers, school counselors, domestic and sexual violence programs, school resource officers, innovative social change agents and more!
Innovative Format
OVW STEP Prevention Institute will convene time and space for interactive plenaries, immersive banner sessions, and creative conversations.

Registration for the Institute: Registration is open until November 1, 2012. Each OVW STEP grantee site team member needs to register individually.
Where to Travel: The main airport nearest to the hotel is SEA/TAC. Local taxis from the airport to the hotel are approximately $40 each way. Or, schedule a ride-share with Shuttle Express (www.shuttleexpress.com) for approximately $19.00 each way. The Link Light Rail is $2.75 each way, and drops you off approximately 2 blocks from the hotel, but is a 36 minute ride. Reservations for the Link Light Rail can be made at www.soundtransit.org.
Where to Park: There is valet parking at the Hyatt at Olive 8 hotel for $42.00/day (over 6 hours). You may also park approximately 1-block from the hotel, at the Grand Hyatt, for $30/day.
Where to Stay: A block of rooms are reserved at the Hyatt at Olive 8 hotel which is located at 1635 8th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101. Please use the portal link to make your room reservations, or call (206) 695-1234 and mention that you are part of the OVW STEP Prevention Institute. All room reservations must be made by Friday, October 26th. The room rate is $137.00 per night.
