This two-day course is for students who have already taken an introductory training in Narrative Therapy and wish to develp and/or explore their narrative therapy skills. Written words last longer than spoken ones. As people develop their preferred stories for their lives and relationships, written documents help thicken and sustain these stories. Letters can be used as touchstones for people to return to as they work to keep their preferred stories close to them. Letters can also be circulated among people they wish to invite to support them with their preferred intentions, hopes, dreams, and values.
Students will be provided with reading materials on Linking Lives and Letter Writing prior to the start of the course to help contextualize these practices within the narrative worldview. During our first day together, the use of written documents will be introduced in detail. Students will then be engaged in exercises to help them deepen their personal understandings of these narrative therapy practices.
Like all NTI courses, Practice Intensives emphasize an experiential learning approach in an environment that nurtures community and relationship-building. We cannot wait to stand alongside your ongoing interest and commitment to narrative therapy and social justice!
