Samir Saber, Director of Continuing Education, Houston Community College
Samir Saber is the Continuing Education Director for Information Technology at
Houston Community College. He serves on the Texas Higher Education
Coordinating Board’s Information Technology Advisory Committee. Before his
current role at HCC, Samir served as the Networking & Cyber Security division
chair. Samir played a significant role in helping HCC achieve the Center of
Academic Excellence – 2 Year College (CAE-2Y) designation by the National
Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security in 2017. As an educator, Samir holds many industry certifications, including CISSP, CCSP, CCNA Security, Linux+, and Server+, and has been teaching for over nine years and is particularly interested in blockchain technology and cloud-based technologies. As a digital entrepreneur, Samir has founded an award-winning company, TuiSpace, LLC, in 2009 which focuses on web design, development, branding, and 3D animations. Samir is passionate about helping students and the community.
Sean Otmishi, Dean, Digital Information Technology, Houston Community
College
Dean Otmishi is a higher education leader with over 20 years of professional
experience in Information Technology, workforce development, curriculum
management, and faculty and organizational development. Sean has taught
courses in the area of Information Assurance, networking, and Server
Administration. He has given numerous workshops and seminars on topics related to Cybersecurity, Future IT Workforce, and educational innovation. He is Doctoral Student in Community College Leadership in Higher Education at Ferris State University. He holds a Graduate degree in Computer Information Systems (M.Sc.) from University of Houston Victoria and Undergraduate in Management Information Systems (B.Sc.) University of Houston Clear Lake. Currently Sean serves as the Dean of Center of Excellence Digital & Information Technology at the Houston Community College.
Pierluigi Stella, Co-founder, Network Box USA, LLC
After 15 years at IBM, Pierluigi Stella co-founded Network Box USA (the American division of Network Box Corporation Ltd) in 2003. As CTO, he has extensive
knowledge of security issues with emphasis on the healthcare, banking and
education sectors. A regular on the editorial circuit, Stella has been featured in
numerous publications, such as SC Magazine, USA Today, LATimes.com, NYTimes.com,Tech News World, PC Mag and PC Today to name but a few Level 1 titles. Frequently featured as an Expert Contributor on CUInsight.com, CU tech-talk, CU bank trends and CBInsight.com, he has also been profiled in the Houston Business Journal as well as Houston Public Radio.
In the year 2008, Stella was a contributor to the European Networks and Information Security Agency (ENISA)’s “Cloud Computing Risk Assessment” project which analyzed data protection and data security issues.
Stella has presented, among others, at HOU.SEC.CON18/19, Houston Cyber Summit 2018/19, WHO2020, HIMSS National 2018, and the ISACA/IAOP 2011 Risk Management & Data Security World Conference in Denver.
He holds a Master’s Degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Naples, Polytechnic School of Engineering in Naples, Italy.
Stella has received numerous industry recognitions for notable career achievements in addition to being the recipient of excellence awards for innovative design.
Kathie Herod, Faculty & Senior Network Analyst, Houston Community
College
Kathie is a higher education senior cybersecurity analyst and faculty member
with over 10 years of experience in IT Security and Training. Kathie
currently teaches CCNA 1 – 4, CCNP 1 – 4, Cisco Wireless, Cisco Academy at
Houston Community College. Kathie is a Project Management Institute member,
a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Bridge, CCNP Bridge.
