This two-day workshop is geared for first through third grade teachers to help students who are reading at the early to transitional levels of reading and writing, but are lagging behind their classmates. The goal of the intervention is teaching struggling readers to acquire strategies for problem solving while reading and writing and maintaining a focus on comprehending what they are reading. Time will be spent learning the components of the Guided Reading Plus intervention and the alignment of the intervention to classroom instruction.
Objectives:
All participants will be required to purchase/bring a copy of the text, Interventions that Work: A Comprehensive Intervention Model for Preventing Reading Failure in Grades K-3.

Audience: Title I and Special Education teachers, Reading Specialists and Interventionists, and Classroom teachers who do interventions
